Today was a really good, productive, relaxing, endorphinesque kind of day. Let me start by saying that I just discovered a new Fauré piece I love, "Élégie for Cello & Piano: Op. 24." Thank you, Pandora.
Second of all, I got out at 12:00 because of the weird rotated schedules (today was "Tuesday," tomorrow is "Wednesday," NO SCHOOL on Wednesday, etc.). So I got to come home and accomplish the majority of my to-do list. Somehow the hardest things always remain on there...hmm...
I went to rowing class with my dad (my mom has had a migraine for the past 3 days), and I got really quite severe blisters. But it was fun, apart from the searing pain on my heels.
I can't believe I'm a "musical director"--that I can say I'm MDing a show. I had my first showband practice on Thursday, and though it was really chaotic in terms of having to find 2839832 different keys and deal with the soundboard and stuff, it was amazing during the moments where everything just came together. It was a rough practice, but at the same time it was one of those spinal music moments--the shivery ones. And then we have callbacks on Thursday (auditions were today; i didn't go), which means that I sit there for 3 hours with John and choose the 4 girls!
And then I get to start teaching them harmonies! Allegheny Moon....Secret Love...Mr. Sandman...all these fun things.
It's so exciting. And I really could not be doing it without Ms. Smith.* I can't wait for the moment after the bows and the thank yous where I get to thank her. She really doesn't know how much her help has meant to me.
I've vowed to write on here everyday. Or nearly so. I'm upset because I never get to write poems in class anymore because I don't have a class this year in which I don't have to pay attention. Oh well.
