(lyric from "Marry Me" by Train...super sweet song)
It's raining right now. I have to go to band in a while. Today was a lazy but productive day: I finished my French homework, did part of my math homework, and wrote a song. It's kind of jazzy and weird, but I think I like it. It's called "Maple Leaves." I haven't finished recording it (my mom came home, and i don't sing in front of my parents), but hopefully I will soon.
I'm a little stressed about the show band. I sent out a calendar for the upcoming weeks, seeing as how a month from TOMORROW is the show, and the drummer let me know he wouldn't even be there the 17th-21st, which is very unfortunate. I think we can manage without him, but if the other two can't show up, I'm worried.
I guess it wouldn't be the ABSOLUTE worst thing in the world if we just jammed straight through show week, but I don't want to have to resort to perfecting everything with them within the week of the show. And I refuse to just end up using the orchestra tracks that came with the show. That would basically be like I did nothing as a musical director.
I'm trying to come up with something to paint. More of a focus-on-details-and-reality type. I'm feeling a little sick of sharpie designs right now, and I want to do more of the old-fashioned type stuff.
ANYWAY. I must be off to [church] band. Fun...
Oh, and performing at church was good. I got many compliments, and I love playing without being under the pressure of one solo major act. Where people are just making noise, and you're the background. I guess that's kind of like my personality. I don't like to be the center of attention. Then I went to Miranda's orchestra concert, which was amazing. We went out to dinner at Il Fornaio afterward, where I had a great dish of pennoni alla vodka, a pasta covered in vodka-tomato sauce and bacon.
Goodbye.
